Organic Study Tour to Germany for Organic Production Stakeholders from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan (08–12 June 2026)

A delegation of organic production stakeholders from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan undertook a study tour to Germany from 08 to 12 June 2026. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen knowledge exchange and gain practical insights into organic production systems, certification procedures, and market development in Germany.

During the study tour, participants visited key institutions and stakeholders in the German organic sector. At the University of Bonn and Campus Wiesengut, they were introduced to ongoing research and innovation activities in sustainable agriculture.

Field visits also included Biohof Bursch GmbH & Co. KG, where participants gained practical exposure to organic farming practices, food processing, and farm shop operations.

In Bonn, participants visited organic retail outlets and supermarkets, which provided an overview of organic product distribution channels and consumer markets in Germany. Meetings were also held with the Import Promotion Desk (IPD), focusing on export promotion, market access, and project implementation in the organic sector, as well as with the GOPA AFC Bonn office, where participants learned about EU regulations and organic policy frameworks.

The delegation also visited IFOAM Organics International, gaining valuable insights into global organic standards, policy development, and international advocacy for organic agriculture.

Overall, the study tour aimed to support capacity building of stakeholders from Central Asia and contribute to the development of sustainable organic value chains, improved certification systems, and stronger cooperation between Central Asian countries and Germany in the organic sector.
