<p>A delegation of organic production stakeholders from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan undertook a study tour to Germany from 08 to 12 June 2026. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen knowledge exchange and gain practical insights into organic production systems, certification procedures, and market development in Germany.</p>

<p>During the study tour, participants visited key institutions and stakeholders in the German organic sector. At the University of Bonn and Campus Wiesengut, they were introduced to ongoing research and innovation activities in sustainable agriculture.</p>



<p>Field visits also included Biohof Bursch GmbH &amp; Co. KG, where participants gained practical exposure to organic farming practices, food processing, and farm shop operations.</p>

<p>In Bonn, participants visited organic retail outlets and supermarkets, which provided an overview of organic product distribution channels and consumer markets in Germany. Meetings were also held with the Import Promotion Desk (IPD), focusing on export promotion, market access, and project implementation in the organic sector, as well as with the GOPA AFC Bonn office, where participants learned about EU regulations and organic policy frameworks.</p>



<p>The delegation also visited IFOAM Organics International, gaining valuable insights into global organic standards, policy development, and international advocacy for organic agriculture.</p>



<p>Overall, the study tour aimed to support capacity building of stakeholders from Central Asia and contribute to the development of sustainable organic value chains, improved certification systems, and stronger cooperation between Central Asian countries and Germany in the organic sector.</p>

<p>From 10–12 February 2026 the world’s premier organic trade fair, BIOFACH, opened its doors once again at the Nürnberg Messe, bringing together over 2 500 exhibitors from every corner of the organic sector. The three‑day event served as a global marketplace and knowledge hub, linking regional, national and international stakeholders committed to a sustainable, organic future.</p>



<p>German-Kazakh Agricultural Policy Dialogue &#8211; Organic Agriculture Expert S. Khasanov participated in the exhibition, holding strategic meetings and discussing future cooperation opportunities with key international institutions, including IFOAM Organics International, the Julius Kühn Institute, as well as representatives of the University of Hohenheim.</p>



<p>During the event, he also facilitated a meeting among the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Farming, the Kazakh Research Institute of Plant Protection, and the Center for Organic Research of the University of Hohenheim to initiate future scientific and research cooperation.<br>As we all recognize, the development of organic agriculture requires not only strong producers, but also well-trained specialists in agricultural extension services and university education. Strengthening education, research, and international collaboration remains a key pillar for building a sustainable agricultural future.<br>Together, we are shaping the future of organic agriculture.</p>

<p>Am 11. November 2025 verabschiedete das Landwirtschaftsministerium der Republik Kasachstan die Vorschriften für die Führung eines Registers für Saatgut von landwirtschaftlichen Pflanzen und Tieren, die für die Herstellung ökologischer Produkte verwendet werden.<br>Wozu dient das Register?</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Die Erzeuger von Bio-Produkten haben nun Zugang zu offiziellen Informationen über Saatgut und Tiere, die für den ökologischen Landbau geeignet sind.</li>



<li>Potenzielle Erzeuger können den Übergang zur ökologischen Produktion planen, da sie sehen, welches Saatgut und welche Tierrassen verfügbar sind.</li>



<li>Das Register erhöht die Transparenz des Marktes und vereinfacht die Arbeit der Zertifizierungsstellen.<br>Was bringt das in praktischer Hinsicht?</li>



<li>Es ist einfacher, Saatgut und Tiere auszuwählen, ohne den Bio-Status zu verlieren.</li>



<li>Die Kontrollen und Audits der Zertifizierungsstellen werden vorhersehbarer.</li>



<li>Die Regionen und das Landwirtschaftsministerium erhalten genaue Daten für die Entwicklung des Bio-Sektors und staatlicher Förderprogramme.</li>
</ul>



<p>Die Verabschiedung der Vorschriften und die Einführung des Registers sind ein wichtiger Schritt hin zu einem transparenten, nachhaltigen und wettbewerbsfähigen System der ökologischen Landwirtschaft in Kasachstan. Dies stärkt das Vertrauen in einheimische Bio-Produkte sowohl im Inland als auch auf den Exportmärkten. Außerdem macht es die ökologische Landwirtschaft in Kasachstan transparent, nachhaltig und wettbewerbsfähig!<br>Der Entwurf der Vorschriften wurde vom Vorsitzenden des Technischen Komitees 100 „Ökologische Produkte” mit Unterstützung des Deutsch-Kasachischen Agrarpolitischen Dialogs (APD) ausgearbeitet.</p>

<p>After a comprehensive COROS analysis and active involvement of international and local experts with the support of the “German-Kazakh Agricultural Policy Dialogue” (APD) project, Kazakhstan has officially joined the IFOAM Family of Standards, marking a major achievements in the country’s commitment to the development of organic agriculture.</p>



<p>The Certificate of Admission into the IFOAM Family of Standards was formally handed over to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the Central Asian Regional Forum “Organic EXPO-2025” held in Almaty on September 26, 2025.</p>



<p>This achievement recognizes Kazakhstan’s national organic standard as being in full alignment with the global principles and requirements of IFOAM – Organics International. The admission demonstrates Kazakhstan’s dedication to promoting environmentally friendly farming practices, supporting rural development, and strengthening consumer trust in organic products.</p>



<p>Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that this recognition will encourage the growth of the organic sector, attract new investments, and contribute to the transition towards sustainable agricultural systems in Kazakhstan.</p>
